Cool Blast Coming to New Jersey This Weekend

Summer 2016 ended on Thursday, but the weather into Friday would lead you to believe that it hasn’t yet ended.

Highs Friday will be well into the mid-80’s with slightly humid air in Cinnaminson. However, the warmer weather will all change this weekend and into the beginning of next week.

A cold front during the early morning hours of Saturday will bring winds generally out of the north and usher in a much drier and cooler air mass.

As the dry cold front passes, the region will have a brief increase in cloud cover late Friday night, but we’ll recover on Saturday with a mostly sunny sky. High pressure will build in throughout the weekend and remain in control through at least Tuesday, providing for mostly sunny skies and dry conditions.

Behind this front, the state will most prominently see a decrease in temperatures and humidity. Highs will be in the low- to mid-70’s from Saturday through the foreseeable future with the coolest days being Sunday and Monday.

Dew points will also fall into the 40’s and 50’s for this time period, which is extremely comfortable and will provide for chilly nights. Below is an image of temperatures modeled for the 40’s at 2am late on Sunday night from Thursday afternoon’s run of the GFS model.

Nighttime temperatures will feel amazing as we continue to try to shake off our hot and humid summer. Low temperatures across our area will threaten to fall into the 40’s Saturday night through Tuesday morning, with the coolest temperatures away from the immediate Philadelphia area due to the ‘urban heat island effect’. Outside of the chance for lows in the 40’s, we’ll at most see lows well into the 50’s past Saturday.

Finally, though Cinnaminson will experience a refreshing blast of fall weather next week, remember that autumn is a transitional season. We’ll continue to see periods of cooler air followed by warmer periods of above-average temperatures throughout the season.

Finally, I’ll leave you with the Climate Prediction Center’s outlook for the October through December period, showing a higher likelihood of above-average temperatures.
