Pirates 1-2-1, 1-2 Liberty

It has been an up and down start to the 2016 season for the boy’s soccer team.

Cinnaminson started the season with a 1-1 draw against Ocean City and picked up win number one with a 3-0 shutout of Pennsauken in their first Liberty contest.

Since those two games the Pirates have been outscored 6-3 and have lost to Liberty opponents Moorestown and Rancocas Valley.

Senior Chris Updike has started the season on fire, scoring a goal in each of the first four games played.

Today’s game against Burlington Township is the fourth of four in a row against Liberty opponents.

A Saturday morning home game against Delsea ends that streak.

Falcons 2-2-1, 1-1-1 Liberty

The Burlington Township Falcons have opened the 2016 season with a 2-2-1 overall record through five games.

The Falcons are 1-1-1 in the Liberty so far, defeating Northern Burlington, falling to Delran and tying Moorestown.

Their second loss of the year came against non-conference opponent Steinert.

Burlington Township lost its season opener to Delran by a 4-0 score, the only time they have been shutout this year.

Last season, the Pirates fell to Burlington Township 3-1 in the first meeting between the teams.

In the second meeting, the Pirates responded with a 1-0 victory on the road.

The teams met for a third time in the first round of the Coaches Cup and played to a 0-0 draw. The Falcons advanced in the tournament on penalty kicks 12-11.
