The Pirates Week in Review for January 18-24 takes a look back at the week that was in Pirates sports at Cinnaminson High School.

We begin our look back at the week with bowling. The boy’s bowling squad enjoyed a 2-0 week that upped their overall record to 10-2-2. They started things off with a 4-0 victory over Bordentown in which Tim Profy rolled a 217 high game and 578 series.

In a 3-1 win over Ewing, the boy’s team hit the 1,000 pin mark for the first time all season. Sean Harris had a stellar day, rolling a high game of 242 and a series of 673 in the victory.

The girl’s bowling team also played just two matches this week, going 0-2 with losses to Bordentown and Ewing to see their record fall to 8-5-1. Lauren Gallo led the Pirates with the high game and series against the Scotties, while Paige D’Amato led Cinnaminson with the high game and series against Ewing.

Boy’s basketball got back into the win column this week with two wins in two games. The Pirates held off a late comeback attempt to take down Maple Shade 71-63 and then dominated Holy Cross 65-39 from start to finish.

The Pirates had five players score in double digits against the Wildcats with Devon Taylor’s 18 leading the attack. In just his second game this season, Will Cabbler dropped 21 against the Lancers as Conor Bresnahan added 16 points. The Pirates are now 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Freedom.

Girl’s basketball played just one game this week and it was quite an entertaining one. The Pirates hosted Holy Cross for a battle of Freedom Division teams both looking to stay undefeated within the division. Holy Cross gave the Pirates all they could handle, but Cinnaminson pulled away late to take home a 43-39 victory to move to 8-2 overall and 4-0 in the Freedom.

Marisa DiLeo and Tori Robinson scored 20 and 10 points, respectively. The Pirates also got defensive contributions from Anne O’Malley and Maddie Ogden throughout the game, with O’Malley blocking a Lancer shot late in the game.

Swimming had just one meet this week due to the blizzard on Saturday, falling to Moorestown 108-62 for their second consecutive loss and dropping their record to 7-4. The Pirates won just one event as Ben Kern took first in the 100 Freestyle.

Winter track had a busy week, competing twice at the Bennett Center in Toms River. The first trip was the second SJTCA Novice Meet of the season.

The second time winter track traveled to the Bennett Center this week was for another normal SJTCA Meet. The highest finisher for the boys was Christian Neumann, who finished seventh in the pole vault. The highest finish for the girls was tied at fourth between Taylor Clark in the pole vault and Prisca Blamon in the shot put.

Wrestling also had just one match this week due to the blizzard, coming from behind to shock Patriot Division foe Delran on the road. Down 33-20 to the Bears with just three bouts remaining the Pirates stayed confident and dominated to win the match 37-33.

It began with heavyweight Keith Swartley. Swartley dominated Ethan Hill with a 16-1 major decisions. Then, TJ Emanuel pinned Dakota Hunter to pull the match within two points at 33-31. Isaiah Elias then walked onto the mat and pinned his opponent, Eric Gardner, to give the Pirates the match victory. Wrestling is now 10-1 overall and 2-0 in the Patriot.
