The Pirates Week in Review for January 11-17 is here. See how the Pirates fared this past week on the court, the lanes, the mat, the track and the pool.

We begin with bowling, which had just two matches this week. The first of the week was a thriller against rival Maple Shade. The boy’s fought back to tie the Wildcats 2-2 and the girl’s came from behind to win 3-1.

In their second match of the week, the Pirates boy’s and girl’s bowling squads took down Northern Burlington by 3-1 and 4-0 scores, respectively.

Tim Profy paced the Pirates against the Greyhounds with a high game of 244 and a high series of 586. The girl’s were led by Paige D’Amato’s high game of 171 and Lauren Gallo’s high series of 442.

Boy’s basketball had a tough week, going 1-2 against Burlington City, Bordentown and Northern Burlington. The win against Burlington City, in the Freedom Division, was a nail-biter as the Pirates hung on to win 44-43.

The games against Bordentown, also in the Freedom, and Northern Burlington were not that close. The Pirates fell to the Scotties 69-52 and the Greyhounds 74-52.

Girl’s basketball played to a 2-0 week as the Pirates took down Burlington City on the road and Bordentown at home, both Freedom Division games.

The win over Burlington City came at a 17-point advantage, 58-41. The game against Bordentown was a little bit closer. The game versus the Scotties was so close that the Pirates needed a bucket from Anne O’Malley with 11 seconds left to take the lead for good en route to a 41-38 victory.

Swimming had a very busy week with three meets, going 2-1 with wins over Holy Cross and Pemberton and a loss to Rancocas Valley. Their record now stands at 7-3 and at one point the Pirates had won five meets in a row before falling to RV.

Winter track took part in two meets this week, the SJTCA Novice Meet and the NJSIAA Group 2 Relays, both at the Bennett Center in Toms River.

Finally, wrestling had another strong week, going 3-0 in one dual match and a tri-match. The dual match was at Pemberton and saw the Pirates win eight straight bouts to secure the victory. The tri-match was at home against Hammonton and Lower Cape May. The Pirates won both matches to move to 9-1 on the year.
