It was a busy week in Cinnaminson for the varsity sports teams. One program endured a tough losing streak, while another ended a losing skid on Friday night. Here is the week in review for the Pirates spring varsity teams for the week ending May 3.

The review this week begins with golf, which remained undefeated with five straight wins from Monday to Friday. The team is now 9-0 on the season with a BC Open title.

Wins came this week against Rancocas Valley, Pemberton, New Egypt, Holy Cross and Northern Burlington. Golf will take on rival Moorestown on Tuesday at the Riverton Country Club.

Baseball had an up and down week, going 2-3. The two wins came against Holy Cross (away and home), while the losses came against Pemberton, Bordentown (under the lights) and Rancocas Valley. The Pemberton loss was the completion of the suspended game from the previous week.

The loss to Rancocas Valley came in the quarterfinals of the BCSL Tournament.

Softball played four games, three on the road, and had one cancelled due to lack of a team for Willingboro. The Pirates softball team went 1-3 in those four games, with the lone win a 22-0 shutout against BCIT-Medford.

Girl’s lacrosse endured a rough stretch of three straight losses between last Saturday and this week. The losses came to Holy Cross and Moorestown Friends. But, on senior night, under the lights of the football stadium, the Pirates ended the streak with a victory over New Egypt.

Boy’s lacrosse continued to struggle this season with three losses in three games this week. The losses came against Holy Cross, Moorestown Friends and New Egypt. It was the second loss of the season for the Pirates against New Egypt. The Pirates are now 2-9 on the season after winning the first two games of the year.

Boy’s volleyball closed in on the program’s 200th victory with a 1-2 week. The lone win came against St. Augustine. The losses came to Collingswood and the number-five team in the state, Sterling.

On the tennis courts, the boy’s tennis team struggled in back-to-back matches against Delran (away and home). The first loss came by a score of 4-1 and the second by a score of 5-0. The match scheduled for Friday against Burlington City did not occur because Burlington City did not field a team this season.

Girl’s track and field tied Delran this week and took part in the Rowan Open on Friday and Saturday.

Boy’s track and field defeated Delran to move to 3-0 on the season and competed in the South Jersey Track Coaches Carnival at Delsea Regional on Thursday.

Check the Pirates Daily Preview on Monday, May 4 for that day’s varsity schedule. There are just two varsity games on the slate as both lacrosse programs will take on Delran.
