The Pirates Athletes of the Week for January 17 has arrived. Who takes home the honors this week for the six winter sports teams? Find out here.

We begin with the bowling team. The squad took on Maple Shade and Northern Burlington this week, with the boy’s going 1-1 and the girl’s going 2-0.

For the boy’s bowling team, the athlete of the week goes to Tim Profy. Profy had arguably one of his best matches of the season with a 244 high game against the Greyhounds in a win.

For the girl’s bowling team, the athlete of the week honor for January 17 goes to Paige D’Amato. D’Amato started her week by picking up a spare with her second ball of the 10th frame in the final game against Maple Shade to tie the game. Her final ball picked up eight pins to win the game and the match, 3-1, for the Pirates. D’Amato then rolled a 171 high game against Northern Burlington for Cinnaminson.

Boy’s basketball struggled to a 1-2 mark this week, losing two games by double digits and winning their game with Burlington City by just one point. The honor this week goes to Conor Bresnahan. Bresnahan led the Pirates in scoring two out of three games this week, finishing with 16 and 19 points in those two games.

In a 2-0 week for the girl’s basketball team, the honor goes to Anne O’Malley. O’Malley picked up the game winner against Bordentown on Thursday night with a bucket to give the Pirates a one-point lead with just 11 seconds remaining in the fourth.

Swimming also had a strong week, going 2-1 with wins over Holy Cross and Pemberton. Their lone loss, which snapped a five-meet win streak, came against Rancocas Valley.

The honor for the swim team this week goes to Andrew Sandeen. Sandeen led the 200 medley relay win against Pemberton. He anchored the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay wins for Cinnaminson against Rancocas Valley on Saturday. Sandeen also won the 200 freestyle against RV and the 500 freestyle against Holy Cross.

In a week that saw the Pirates compete at the SJTCA Novice Meet and the NJSIAA Group 2 Relays, the honor goes for the boy’s goes to Pat Bearint. Bearint finished first at the SJTCA Novice Meet in the pole vault with a 10-00.00.

The honor for the girl’s goes to Casey Koukoski, who finished highest for the Pirates in the individual events at the Novice Meet. Koukoski finished fourth in the pole vault with a 6-06.00.

Wrestling had a stellar week, going 3-0 with impressive wins over Pemberton, Hammonton and Lower Cape May. This was an incredibly difficult one to choose this week due to the multitude of impressive performances by the Pirates across three matches.

The honor this week is a co-award as Joe Cody and Mike Dunleavy take home the honors. Cody used six periods to defeat Alex Cawley of Pemberton by a 2-1 decision on Wednesday before winning both of his bouts on Saturday. His second bout, versus Cory Brant of Lower Cape May, was a pin in 0:10.

Dunleavy started his week with a pin of Devin Bongiovonni of Pemberton at 0:23. He then picked up a hard-fought 7-3 decision over Zach Campbell of Lower Cape May in overtime to complete his week after giving up a tying point with three seconds left in regulation.
