The Pirates Week in Review for the week of February 8-14 is here. Take a look back at the week that was in Cinnaminson sports.

We begin with bowling, which had just one match this week and it was a good one. The boy’s team took part in the Group 1 Sectional tournament at Brunswick Zone in Deptford.

The Pirates finished in first place in Group 1, advancing to the state tournament on February 19 at Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick. Eddie Runquist paced the Pirates with a 642 series, while Ronnie Runquist rolled a 246 high game.

Boy’s basketball took the court three times this week, winning two of three games. The first of the three games came against New Egypt and it took an overtime session for the Pirates to win their 12th game and it snapped a three-game losing streak. On Thursday, the Pirates took down a Bordentown team that came into the game with just one loss on the year to keep pace in the Freedom Division race.

A rare Sunday game saw the Pirates take on Group 1 Glassboro at Cherry Hill East, falling by a score of 72-50. Cinnaminson is now 13-6 overall and 5-2 in the Freedom. The Pirates also learned their playoff fate this week, receiving the five-seed in the South, Group 2 Tournament.

Girl’s basketball played four games this week, going 1-3 in those games. The three losses came in a row to Delran, New Egypt and Bordentown. The loss to the Scotties was the first of the season for the Pirates in the Freedom Division. The loss to Delran snapped an 11-game win streak for the Pirates.

Cinnaminson snapped their three-game losing streak on Friday evening with a 60-58 win over Haddon Heights, the two-seed in the South, Group 1 Tournament. Cinnaminson earned the one-seed in the South, Group 2 Tournament. Girl’s basketball is now 15-5 overall and 6-1 in the Freedom.

The Pirates swim team saw its incredible season come to an end on Monday in the semifinal round of the Central, Group B Tournament to West Windsor-Plainsboro South by a score of 112-58. The Pirates finish the year with a 10-5 record. Cinnaminson picked up wins in two events, the 100 breaststroke and the 400 free relay.

Winter track participated in one event this week as the throwing section of the program returned to Cherokee High School for the third edition of the Cherokee Throwdown. Kamron Kobolak (6th place) finished highest for the boys and Prisca Blamon (6th place) finished highest for the girls.

It was an up and down week for the wrestling team, which won its playoff opener versus Delran on Monday night, but fell in the semifinal round to West Deptford on Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Pirates took part in a tri-match to end their team regular season with Hamilton West and Northern Burlington. Cinnaminson took down Hamilton West and dropped the match with Northern Burlington to finish the year with a 17-5 team record.

The Pirates Week in Review is posted every Sunday at 11am so long as one varsity team was in action that week.
