The Pirates Athletes of the Week for February 14 are here. See who takes home the honors this week for all six varsity programs.

Bowling: Boy’s bowling had just one match this week, the Group 1 Sectional Tournament in Deptford. The Pirates won the sectional to advance to the Group 1 State Tournament on February 19. The athlete of the week for boy’s bowling goes to Eddie Runquist. Runquist led the Pirates with a 642 series.

Boy’s Basketball: The Pirates enjoyed a 2-1 week with wins over New Egypt and Bordentown, but suffered a loss to Glassboro to move to 13-6 overall and 5-2 in the Freedom Division. The athlete of the week for boy’s basketball is awarded to Conor Bresnahan. Bresnahan poured in 19 points in the win over Bordentown and his three-point play to tie the game turned the tide. Bresnahan scored on a putback and was fouled. He hit the free throw to complete the three-point play that tied the game and led to a scoring outburst from the Pirates.

Girl’s Basketball: In a 1-3 week, the honor goes to senior Marisa DiLeo. DiLeo set the school record for threes made in a career for the girl’s basketball program in the Pirates lone win of the week against Haddon Heights. DiLeo entered the game with 114, needing two to tie and three to set the record. She hit three in the game and now has 117 in her career.

Swimming: In the semifinal round of the Central, Group B Tournament the Pirates saw their incredible season come to an end against West Windsor-Plainsboro South. The Pirates won two events, an individual event and a relay. The individual event, the 100 breaststroke, was won by Brian Finnan. He takes home the athlete of the week for swimming today.

Winter Track: With just one event on the schedule this week, the Cherokee Throwdown, only the throwing section of the program competed. Kamron Kobolak takes home the honor for the boys after finishing 6th and Prisca Blamon takes home the honor for the girls after finishing 6th at the event.

Wrestling: The Pirates went 1-1 in the sectional tournament this week, beating Delran and losing to West Deptford. The Pirates also split at a tri-match on Saturday, beating Hamilton West and losing to Northern Burlington to finish the regular season 17-5 as a team. The honor for wrestling this week goes to Jahmil Williams. Williams trailed in his 132-pound bout late in the third, but scored a takedown with under two seconds remaining to win 8-7.
