With winter break coming to a close, all six varsity programs will be back in action this week. Bowling and swimming have had some extended time off while boy’s basketball, girl’s basketball, winter track and wrestling continued their solid starts to the 2015-2016 season.

We have four athletes of the week to bring you today, so without further adieu, let’s begin to hand out the hardware.

We begin with boy’s basketball, which won the Collingswood Holiday Tournament by beating Salem and New Foundations Charter (PA) across two days this past week. The honor this week goes to Conor Bresnahan. Bresnahan led the Pirates in scoring against Salem with 15 and tied for the lead in scoring against New Foundations Charter with 13.

The athlete of the week for girl’s basketball, which went 1-1 at the Audubon Holiday Tournament, goes to Marisa DiLeo. DiLeo led the Pirates with 24 points in their 42-26 win in the opening round over Audubon. She then led the Pirates in scoring with seven points in the title game loss to Gloucester.

Winter track ramped up its season with two meets this past week on consecutive days. Tuesday saw them compete at the second SJTCA meet of the season and Wednesday saw them travel to Staten Island to take part in the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival.

The honor this week for the boys goes to Steven Liu. Liu finished sixth in the long jump at 18-11.00 for the highest individual finish for the boys at Ocean Breeze.

The winter track athlete of the week for the girls side goes to Taylor Clark. Clark finished second in the pole vault by clearing 9-00.00. Her second-place finish was the highest individual finish for the girls at Ocean Breeze this week.

Wrestling traveled to Egg Harbor Township High School on Wednesday to take part in the Arthur O. Marinelli Tournament. The only wrestler to take part in the finals for Cinnaminson was heavyweight Keith Swartley, who brings home the athlete of the week honor for January 3. Swartley won his bout by a 10-4 decision over Paul Valian of the host school.
