The first of two games we are covering today features Pirates baseball vs Pemberton in the first round of the BCSL Tournament.
The second game features girl’s lacrosse vs Delran at 6:30pm. That Gameday Focus will go live to the site at 2pm.
Here is our Gameday Focus for the contest, which pits Patriot rivals Cinnaminson and Pemberton today.
When: Friday, April 29 at 3:45pm
Where: Cinnaminson
Cinnaminson: 7-6, 4-0
Pemberton: 4-6, 1-3
Cinnaminson comes into today’s BCSL first round with an overall record of 7-6 after taking down Patriot rival Holy Cross 5-0 on Thursday. The win moved the Pirates Patriot record to 4-0.
Senior lefty Brandon Staub picked up the win on the mound, throwing his third complete game in four starts. He is now 4-0 on the year with all four wins coming in division play.
The only game in which he did not go the distance was the Pirates 5-2 win over Pemberton earlier this season. He went six innings for the victory, allowing two unearned runs.
It has been an up and down year for baseball, but when it comes to taking on divisional opponents, the Pirates have been unbeatable. In fact, they have been downright dominant.
In four Patriot wins to date the Pirates have allowed a total of two unearned runs. Three of the four games have resulted in shutouts (10-0 Bordentown, 1-0 Delran and 5-0 Holy Cross).
Pemberton enters today’s first round BCSL matchup with a 4-6 record. It has been a rough year for the Hornets, who recently snapped a four-game losing streak with a 9-0 win over Rancocas Valley, their only shutout of the season.
During their four-game skid the Hornets lost two divisional games to Cinnaminson and Delran and scored a total of nine runs in the four losses.
The other two losses came against Nottingham and Maple Shade. During the losing streak the Hornets allowed a total of 34 runs across the four games.
Cinnaminson and Pemberton will meet one more time in the regular season for their second divisional contest of the year. It is slated to be the final regular season game for the Pirates on May 19.
