Game coverage today features girl’s lacrosse vs Northern Burlington as the Pirates aim for a fifth consecutive win. Here is an in-depth look at the contest in today’s Gameday Focus.

When: Monday, April 11 at 3:45pm

Where: Cinnaminson

Cinnaminson: 4-1

Northern Burlington: 4-1

The Pirates enter today with a 4-1 record, having won four in a row after losing their season opener to Holy Cross 16-3. Cinnaminson recently took down Delran on Friday by a score of 12-10 to win their fourth in a row.

The win over Delran marked a 3-0 week for the Pirates. Cinnaminson also defeated New Egypt and Moorestown Friends.

“First of all, our game against Delran might have been one of the best games I’ve seen in my 8 years of coaching,” head coach Laura Curran said.

“These girls played a full 50 minutes, not letting up until the final whistle. Defensively, we stopped their best player, and on offense, we were able to keep possession and be patient while time nearly ran out for Delran. Coming off a win like that will be huge for our confidence level as we head into another tough week.”

The Pirates scored a total of 38 goals across the three games played last week, but the name of the game isn’t just offense.

“I had been telling the girls all along that we would be successful if we came together and played a full 50 minutes and were confident in what they could accomplish,” Curran said.

“Everyone emptied their tanks this past week and learned a lot about themselves and each other. Our defense is really starting to come together and communicate more and our transition has improved as well. All important aspects to a game in order to come out on top.”

Northern Burlington also comes in with a 4-1 record and is coming off a 16-1 victory over Pennsauken on Friday. The Greyhounds opened the season with a three game win streak and suffered their first loss of the year to Rancocas Valley.

When it comes to common opponents so far this season, both teams have beaten New Egypt and Delran. The Pirates took down New Egypt 14-10 last week.

Cinnaminson swept the season series from Northern Burlington in 2015 with wins of 11-9 and 13-12.

“I think the girls finally realized what they were capable of after our last game,” Curran said. “They’ve proved how well they can work together and be successful. The bar has been raised and I know they won’t accept anything less than their best from now on. As long as we come out with the same intensity we did against Delran, we will get a win for sure.”
