Week one of the Pirates 2015 football season is set for tonight at 7pm when Robbinsville comes to town. Here is our football preview for the week one game.
Cinnaminson enters 2015 following a 9-2 season overall and a 4-1 mark in the division. A large senior class graduated in the spring, including three-year starting quarterback Nick Thevanayagam.
Shaun Davilla moves from wide receiver to quarterback for this season, which leaves the Pirates a little inexperienced at the skill positions of receive and running back.
Despite the inexperience, the Pirates have improved greatly from the beginning of camp to tonight’s game.
The offensive and defensive lines will be among the biggest size-wise in Burlington County, which will help protect Davilla as he transitions into quarterback during game situations.
The defensive backfield for Cinnaminson returns experienced players and the linebacking core will be a strong part of the this year’s defense.
Robbinsville suffered through a winless (0-10) season in 2014, but returns starting quarterback Andrew Aromando and starting running back Eric McNeil.
Robbinsville was shutout four times in 2014, including two 55-0 losses, one to Cinnaminson on opening night and one to Holy Cross. All told, Robbinsville was outscored 354-66 in their 10 losses.
The Pirates will look to win back-t0-back season openers for the first time since 2004 and 2005. The Pirates are 3-0 all-time against Robbinsville.
Safe to say there will be some early jitters on both sides of the field tonight, but they shouldn’t last too long as the Pirates are prepared to make yet another deep playoff run this fall.
Cinn City Sports will have game coverage tonight so be sure to follow us on Twitter for live updates. Check the site afterwards for pictures and a recap story of the game featuring interviews with head coach Mario Patrizi and players.
Our week two football preview will launch Friday, September 18 at Noon for the Pirates home game against Willingboro.
