The Hunter’s Heroes Foundation is holding a beef and beer this Saturday and the proceeds will benefit local families in need this holiday season.

“We want to bring awareness in everything we do,” Claire Hunter said. “We want people to know how rough it is for firefighters. It’s not just sit in the firehouse, wash trucks and go back to bed. It’s not that simple. I don’t think people are aware of it as much as they should be.”

The beef and beer will be held at Sacred Heart in Riverton on Saturday, November 12 from 7-11 p.m.

There will be a DJ, a silent auction, drinks and the evening is being catered by A Cut Above Deli.

The majority of the proceeds raised at the event will go towards local families in need.

“We want to give back to the community for everything they’ve done for me and my family,” Claire said. “We want to help the community as much as possible because that’s what Chris would have wanted.”

“We are going to help local families in need this Christmas. We haven’t figured out yet how we are going to do this, but it’s something we want to do as a foundation.”

A portion will also go towards the first-ever Lt. Christopher Hunter Scholarship Fund.

“This year we will give out a scholarship for a graduating senior in 2017. That is a goal we want to achieve,” Claire said.

“Chris loved Cinnaminson. It was his favorite place. He never went anywhere else. We want to make it easier for someone to go to college. Chris told me many times he wanted to go back to school while he was working. I think it’s real important for a student to get something that they might not be able to get or might not have the means to acquire.”

The foundation has yet to decide on the requirements for the scholarship.

The scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior at Cinnaminson High School, Lt. Hunter’s alma mater.

You must be 21 to attend and tickets must be presented at the door to gain entrance.

The beef and beer is going to be a celebration of Lt. Hunter’s life and legacy. He would have turned 41 this year.

“I don’t want people to forget who he was and I want people who didn’t know him to know who he was,” Claire said. “I want to just have a day of him. Everyday for me is of him, but not to everybody else, and I think he deserves that.”

Today is the final day you can purchase tickets. This can be done online or by contacting Claire Hunter at huntersheroesfoundation@comcast.net or 856-904-3387.
