The third week of the 2015 Pirates football season is here, which means our football preview for Bordentown has also arrived. The Pirates will be on the road for the first time this year tonight when they travel to face the Scotties at 7pm.

Cinnaminson moved to 2-0 with a 23-16 victory over visiting Willingboro last week. The game was much closer than anyone would have liked, especially since the Pirates held a 21-0 lead at halftime and then a 23-0 lead in the second half before surrendering 16 points.

The Pirates defense was dominant once again, holding the Chimeras to a total of two first downs in the game, the first one coming late in the third quarter. The Pirates also prevented the big plays, which is what Willingboro is known for, minus one long touchdown run.

The Pirates received two rushing touchdowns from freshman Rashad Raymond, one from 33 yards and one from three yards out. The combination of Raymond, quarterback Shaun Davilla, RB Kevin Schoch and WR/RB Frank Stepnowski have given opposing defenses fits in the first two games this season running the football.

Davilla leads all Pirates rushers with 194 yards on the ground.

Bordentown fell to 0-2 on the season with a 48-21 loss to Highland last Friday night. In the loss, the Scotties defense allowed 392 yards on the ground.

The Scotties leading rusher is Keyvon McClary, who has 161 yards and one touchdown on 32 carries through two games. Their leading receiver is Xander Sommers, who has pulled in 10 catches for one touchdown and 171 yards in Bordentown’s two losses.

The Scotties have been outscored 88-41 in their two losses this year, having allowed 40-plus points in both games, while scoring 20-plus points in both games.

Cinnaminson leads the all-time series against Bordentown with a 12-1 mark, including a 12-game win streak. Two of those wins came during the 2014 season, one in the regular season (35-28) and one in the state playoffs (28-7).

Pirates head coach Mario Patrizi said the staff and team know what they are getting into on Friday night, having played so many tight games with Bordentown over the years. Patrizi noted that the Scotties are well-coached and will be hungry coming into this game with an 0-2 mark.
