Morgan Gares

As we continue to profile the senior athletes at Cinnaminson High School, our latest installment of Senior Spotlight features girl’s lacrosse player Morgan Gares.

College: St. Joseph’s University

Major: Psychology

Favorite Movies: Hairspray and the Jump Street films.

Favorite Artist: Nicki Minaj

Cinn City Sports: How long have you been playing lacrosse?

Gares: I have been playing lacrosse since 8th grade. I’ve also played soccer and ran winter track and cross country. In middle school, I ran track my first two years but since my friends were playing lacrosse, I figured I would give it a shot.

CCS: Will you be playing any sports in college?

Gares: I plan to play intramural or club sports for both lacrosse and running.

CCS: What is your most memorable athletic moment at CHS?

Gares: My most memorable moment from lacrosse at CHS, is when we beat Holy Cross for the first time in 11 years my sophomore year. Although I didn’t play in the game, Laura always encourages that everyone contributes to the wins of all three levels and seeing the intensity on the field, made me excited!

CCS: What is your favorite class at CHS?

Gares: My favorite class at CHS is Advance TV Production. We get to make videos of whatever we feel and I love being creative. We just finished the “10 Day Film Challenge” which we won some awards for last year and plan on a positive reaction from this years video.

CCS: What part of your lacrosse game has improved the most during your varsity career?

Gares: Since playing varsity, I think my defense has improved the most. I always went back on defense but it was never my strong-suit. Now, I am very confident and so is the rest of our team, hence why we feel our defense is doing great this year.

CCS: What is the most important thing you want the younger players to remember about you or learn from you, either on or off the field?

Gares: The most important thing I want the younger players to remember about me is my leadership. I feel as though I am a loud voice on the field and I am always trying to help my teammates.

CCS: Who has been the biggest influence on your athletic career?

Gares: The biggest influence on my athletic career is Laura. As lacrosse is my main sport, I took any of the many opportunities she presented to us year round. With her positive influence and love for lacrosse, she has encouraged us so much individually and as an entire program making the lacrosse team one of the hardest working teams in the school.
