Our second Senior Spotlight of the day features girl’s lacrosse player Kimmy Stefanelli. We will have dozens of Senior Spotlights over the next days, weeks and months. We hope you enjoy getting to know the senior athletes at Cinnaminson High School.
Lacrosse has won six consecutive games to move to 6-1 on the season after suffering a loss in their first game.
College: The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College
Major: Pastry Arts
Favorite Movie: The Avengers
Favorite Song/Artist: “My favorite artist would probably be Walk the Moon or Twentyone Pilots but I don’t have a specific favorite song by either band.”
Favorite Class: “My favorite class would have to be my Foods class of course!”
Most Memorable Lacrosse Moment: “Beating Holy Cross my sophomore year after not beating them for approximately 10 years.”
Sticking with the Holy Cross theme, Stefanelli said that is one of the teams she looks forward to playing the most each year.
“I normally would say Holy Cross is the team I look forward to most, but with this season, Rancocas Valley is definitely up there.”
Even though athletes spend a lot of their time on the field either playing or practicing, they do get some down time. Stefanelli said she likes to hang out with family and friends during her free time and finish her schoolwork.
When asked who has helped Stefanelli help her the most during her lacrosse career, she was quick to praise head coach Laura Curran.
“Laura has been the biggest help to me, she’s probably the best coach I’ve ever had in any sport. She’s extremely supportive and always positive no matter what. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so dedicated. Seeing her dedication just makes you want to be a better player at all times. She’s helped me become the player I am today and I’m so grateful to have had her as my coach!”
Stefanelli also discussed what part of her game has improved the most during her career.
“Definitely my left hand stick skills, and my right too, with practice on my own. I’d also have to say Laura helped me the most with my shooting, she taught me everything I can do.”
