Jimmy Dever

The first of two Senior Spotlights today features baseball player Jimmy Dever. Here is our conversation:

Cinn City Sports: How long have you been playing baseball?

Dever: I’ve been playing baseball ever since I was a little kid playing tee ball. I had a strong passion towards the game then and still do today.

College: Immaculata University. I am also furthering my baseball career there as a pitcher.

Major: Accounting

CCS: What has been your favorite class at CHS?

Dever: My favorite class at CHS has to be American Law with Mrs. Quinn. She has taught me 4 times since 7th grade when I came over to public schools. She is a great teacher and an even better person.

CCS: Who has been the biggest influence on your athletic career?

Dever: My biggest influence on my baseball career is my dad by far. He has always pushed and motivated me to be the best. He really has been my role model and I look up to him more than anybody. I would not be where I am today without him.

CCS: What was your favorite part of the senior trip to Disney?

Dever: My favorite part of the trip was all the great times I got to experience with my best friends (Matt Ochman, Jeremy Bowen, Zach Sireci, Matt Haddon, Dave Gall, Andrew Weist, Chris Fest and Alex Artur). They asked for a shoutout lol.

CCS: What is your favorite movie?

Dever: I’m more of a comedy guy when it comes to movies so I have to say step brothers. I believe I know every line.

CCS: What do you like to do in your free time?

Dever: In my free time I usually spend time with my friends. I also like to go fishing a lot so I also do that in my free time.

CCS: What is your favorite song?

Dever: My favorite song has to be the classic “Drops of Jupiter.”

CCS: What is one piece of advice you would give kids looking to excel in baseball?

Dever: A piece of advice I would give to other kids would be that baseball is a game of failure. With that being said, you’re going to get out and strike out, but the main thing is that you have to keep your head up and move on to the next play.

CCS: What is your favorite position to play on the diamond?

Dever: My favorite position is pitcher. I’ve been pitching ever since they let you for the first time in intown. I like having the feeling of being in control of the game and the intensity when battling a tough opponent.

CCS: Do you have a favorite pre-game snack or meal?

Dever: My favorite snack before a game is a hoagie from wawa. They have the best hoagies.
