The Pirates Athletes of the Week for June 5 have arrived. See who takes home the honors this week in Pirates sports at Cinnaminson High School.

Baseball: The final Athlete of the Week for the 2016 season for the Pirates baseball team is a dual award that goes to pitcher Jack Conville and outfielder Mike Hess. Despite taking the loss in the South, Group 2 final, Conville threw six innings and allowed three unearned runs. His pitching kept the Pirates in the game. Hess made three spectacular catches in center field in the loss, saving at least two runs and robbing what looked to be a sure homer.

Boy’s Track and Field: The Athlete of the Week for boy’s track and field for June 5 goes to junior Mike Ungvarsky. Ungvarsky won the state title for Group 2 in the 3200 on Saturday at Northern Burlington. He will compete at the Meet of Champions on Wednesday.

Girl’s Track and Field: The Athlete of the Week for girl’s track and field for June 5 goes to the 4×800 team. The 4×800 team was the highest finisher at the Group 2 state meet for the girl’s track and field team this weekend.

Softball: The final Athlete of the Week for the 2016 season for the Pirates softball team goes to three girls; Brooke Figiel, Olivia Pestridge and Jess Ferris. This trio of girls hit long homers in the fifth inning against West Deptford in the South, Group 2 semifinal Tuesday. The Pirates were trailing 7-2 at the time when Figiel’s two-run blast made it 7-4. That was followed immediately with a solo homer from Pestridge. Two batters later, Ferris hit a solo homer to pull the Pirates with a run at 7-6.
