CHS, Cinnaminson High School

Today marks the first edition of our new feature, the Pirates Athletes of the Week. We waited until now to publish our first round of selections because this past week was the first full week of spring sports at Cinnaminson High School.

We wanted to have a full week of games to select athletes from. Take a look at the Pirates Week in Review to see how all of the varsity programs fared from Monday, April 6 to Saturday, April 12.

The first athlete of the week honor in baseball goes to Adam Berenato. In the only game played this week for the Pirates, Berenato went 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs against Bordentown in a 9-7 victory. He also scored once and slugged one double.

Softball went 2-2 this week, with senior pitcher Shannon Profy picking up the wins in both games, one against Pemberton and one against Woodbury. She is our first softball athlete of the week. Profy struck out 10 hitters in both wins. She also went a combined 4-for-7 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored at the plate to pace the Pirates offensive attack.

Since golf did not play this week, we will look back at their opening game against at New Egypt, which saw them record a 155-211 victory. Our first golf athlete of the week goes to David Gall, who shot a team-best 37 in the win.

Boy’s lacrosse went 1-1 this week, with the first loss coming in overtime to New Egypt. The first athlete of the week for boy’s lacrosse goes to Tom Schlindwein, who scored four against New Egypt after adding the first goal of the game against Lower Cape May in a 3-2 win.

Girl’s lacrosse won all three games played this week, putting their record at 3-1. Victories came against Mainland, Pennsauken and New Egypt. In all three games, the Pirates scored in double digits. Our first athlete of the week for girl’s lacrosse is Grace Shallow. Shallow scored 12 goals for Cinnaminson in the three games, with six coming against Pennsauken.

Boy’s tennis played just one game this week, a 3-2 loss to Rancocas Valley. The first boy’s tennis athlete of the week honor goes to Eddie Runquist, who won his singles match in two sets (6-1, 6-2) against Andrew Knaak of RV.

Boy’s volleyball had a trying week, going 1-4 in five games. The lone victory came against Woodrow Wilson, but three of those four losses came against top 15 teams in the state. The first Pirates athletes of the week honor for boy’s volleyball goes to the entire team for the effort given against three, top-15 opponents this week and for taking down Woodrow Wilson at home.

Girl’s track and field took part in the West Deptford Relays on Saturday. The first honor for girl’s track is a combined effort as Cinnaminson won the Distance Medley in 13:31.50 10. The four girls in the race were Olivia Rocks, Christina Harrell, Andrea Torres and Haley Adams.

On Saturday, boy’s track and field competed at the Bensalem Invitational. The season’s first honor for boy’s track and field goes to Ryan Addlesberger, who retained his title in the shot put by throwing 50’8” to win the event by five feet.
