With reports of creepy clown sightings across the country, including one in Cinnaminson, many wondered if there would be a township ban on such costumes for Halloween.
The township committee, with the recommendation of Director of Public Safety Michael King, has decided against banning clown costumes this year for Halloween and related events, including Trunk or Treat (October 22).
The township posted an announcement on its Community Connection Facebook page this morning about the decision.
The announcement asked parents to speak with their children about behavior when wearing costumes.
“We do however ask all parents to carefully consider costume choices this year more then (sic) any. Parents are also encouraged to speak with their children about their behavior as to not impact on the quality of life of our residents and children.”
Cinnaminson will be enforcing a 9pm curfew on Mischief Night and Halloween, which remains unchanged from previous years.
The Cinnaminson Police Department will have extra patrols on duty for both Mischief Night and Halloween.
The township also asks that parents check with their child’s school regarding costume policy since it might not be in line with the township policy for Halloween.
