Cinnaminson Mayor John McCarthy lauded the community policing efforts of three CPD officers at the November township committee meeting.

Mayor McCarthy, during his report on public safety, mentioned three separate events where police officers in Cinnaminson performed actions without hesitation.

The first event Mayor McCarthy referenced involved Sergeant Michael Burns.

Sergeant Burns reached out to a resident on Facebook after she posted that her son was uneasy with police officers.

Sergeant Burns gave the child and his mother a tour of the police station on his day off, in full and complete uniform.

“Sergeant Michael Burns reached out directly to the parent, invited them to the station and provided a tour,” Mayor McCarthy said. “He showed the child that police officers are his friends.”

“I just want to say to Sergeant Burns; job well done. That’s a fantastic job. That’s what community policing is supposed to be all about, without being told. It was on his day off.”

On Halloween night, Officer Josh Lillagore decided to give out candy while on patrol.

“When he saw groups of kids in the neighborhoods, he stopped and gave out candy. There was tremendous feedback from that as well.”

In the third event, Officer Michael Czarzasty helped a lost child.

The child was new to town and got lost on the way home from school at Rush one afternoon.

“Officer Czarzasty found the child, picked him up, showed him his way around the neighborhood and got him home,” Mayor McCarthy explained. “Great job to all three of those officers.”

“That’s exactly what we, as Cinnaminson committee, and I’m sure the residents, would hope and wish for that all of our police officers would do any one of those three things. Thank you for a job well done.”
