Cinnaminson sophomore defensive end Kai Leibfried will attend the Blue-Grey National All-American Super Combine this coming weekend in Canton, Ohio.

“There will be a bunch of colleges there looking at his skill, size, speed and strength,” head football coach Mario Patrizi said. “He had a real good year this year as a sophomore.”

“He’s worked real hard in the weight room. I think he’s going to show well at this combine. I think it’s a good idea to get his name out there for college.”

Leibfried will compete with his peers in an effort to be chosen for one of four Blue-Grey National All-American Bowls that will be hosted in NFL facilities around the country.

“I decided to attend the Ohio location,” Leibfried said. “I really want to see where I stand with other players in my grade and above me.”

Leibfried will compete in the 5, 10, 5 with three cones drill, the 40-yard dash, bench press and broad jump. He will also take part in D-line versus O-line drills led by position coaches.

“One of the main reasons why I want to go there is to improve in what I’m doing and help my team,” Leibfried said. “My most memorable play has to be my sack against Robbinsville.”

Leibfried finished his sophomore season this past fall with 9.5 total tackles, 6 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery.

“His skill level, his toughness, his endurance all stood out,” Patrizi said. “He came into camp (last year) and once the scrimmages started he turned it on. His motor is always running.”

“He turned onto a different level and had a very, very good year at defensive end. He will be at defensive end this year and offensive guard.”

Leibfried was named to the Liberty Division 2nd Team Defense following the 2015 season.

“The thing that’s good with him is he’s quick. Not only is he quick, but he’s strong,” Patrizi said. “He rarely gets beat to a spot. He made a lot of good plays. He’s very consistent because of his quickness and his strength.”

The Pirates open the 2016 season on Friday, September 9 at Willingboro.

“It’s really exciting seeing the people we have coming back and the additions we will have this year,” Leibfried said of the upcoming season. “Just watching them do what they do and they’re really good at it.”
