The holiday season is right around the corner as dozens of Santas gathered for a kickoff luncheon Saturday at the Jersey Diner in Cinnaminson.

Every year a group of Santas gather for a holiday season kickoff luncheon in South Jersey.

“We’ve been doing this for four years now,” Santa Claus said. “Every September we would have a Santa gathering in the Lancaster area.”

“We decided to have a luncheon after the season in Pennsylvania. Then the kickoff for the season was created and we hold it here in South Jersey. This is the second year we held it at the Jersey Diner.”

This year’s kickoff luncheon was held at the Jersey Diner here in Cinnaminson.

“When the sleigh’s down, the reindeer are off, so we try to make it an easy drive so everyone doesn’t have to travel as far,” Santa said.

Many of the Santas will be seen at events in and around Cinnaminson in the coming months, including the Breakfast with Santa at Merion Caterers and Cookies and Milk with Santa at St. Charles Borromeo School.

“We get Santas from South Jersey, Philadelphia and Bucks County,” Santa said. “We treat it as a networking event in order to get all of the events we know of covered.”

There were roughly 35 Santas and Mrs. Clause’s in attendance at the kickoff luncheon Saturday.

“We had a good time; a lot of belly laughs,” Santa said. “We also went over grooming techniques, where we get our suits cleaned, how to handle tough questions from children and made sure everyone had important dates recorded.”
