Pirates 2015 Recap

The Pirates finished the 2015 season with an 8-2 record, a 4-1 mark in the Liberty, and were co-champions of the Liberty Division.

Cinnaminson fell in the first round of the South, Group 2 tournament to Buena 28-7.

The Pirates lone loss in division play came against rival Holy Cross, 34-33, after leading 21-0 at halftime.

The loss was a wake-up call for the Pirates, who then reeled off three wins in a row, including an impressive 45-34 win over Liberty opponent Pemberton.

2015 saw the Pirates score 20 or more points in eight of their 10 games played and recorded three shutouts.

The defense was so good last season that it took seven quarters before a point was scored against the Pirates to start the year.

The first points of the season allowed by the Pirates defense came against Willingboro in the fourth quarter of the second game.

Chimeras 2015 Recap

Willingboro struggled through a 3-6 season in 2015, missing the playoffs for a third straight season.

Willingboro picked up wins against Ewing, Holy Cross and Lawrence, two of which were division wins before moving to the Liberty this year.

The Chimeras allowed 20 or more points four times in 2015, all losses, and scored 20 or more points just twice, both wins.

Willingboro was shutout just once and did not shutout any opponents in 2015.

The highest point total for the Chimeras came on the final game of the season with a 46-13 win over Lawrence.

Pirates 2016 Outlook

Per the norm at Cinnaminson, the Pirates will look to re-tool, not rebuild.

The Pirates picked up a senior transfer from Pennsauken in Andrew Goshine.

Goshine, Pennsauken’s former quarterback, will play wide receiver for the Pirates.

Shaun Davilla returns at quarterback with Rashad Raymond in the backfield and Frank Stepnowski and Kevin Schoch leading the receiving corps.

The West Jersey Football League (WJFL), which houses the Pirates, has expanded this year.

The expansion has brought new teams to the Pirates schedule in Sterling, West Deptford, Collingswood and Glassboro.

The Matchup

Cinnaminson has won the last three meetings with Willingboro by a combined score of 91-36.

The last win in the series for Willingboro came in 2012 by a 29-21 score.

The Chimeras lead the all-time series 20-9.
