The girl’s soccer team plays host to Liberty rival Holy Cross this afternoon looking to remain unbeaten on the season. Here is our in-depth preview.

When: Tuesday, October 4 at 3:45pm

Where: Cinnaminson High School

Pirates 6-0-1, 5-0 Liberty

The girl’s soccer team comes into today with an overall record of 6-0-1 and a 5-0 mark in the Liberty Division.

The Pirates have already beaten Rancocas Valley, Moorestown, Burlington Township, Northern Burlington and Delran.

Cinnaminson has allowed just two goals this season and has recorded five shutouts. One of those shutouts came in a 0-0 draw against Williamstown to open the 2016 season.

Both goals allowed have come against Liberty opponents in a 3-1 win over Moorestown and a 2-1 win over Delran.

The Pirates have a jam-packed schedule this week. After Holy Cross today, they host Pemberton Wednesday at 6:30 for Senior Night and then Bordentown visits on Friday.

The game with Holy Cross is the only Liberty contest on the schedule this week.

Lancers 8-2, 3-1 Liberty

Holy Cross has already played 10 games this season, going 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the division.

Their lone loss in the division came by a 2-1 score against Burlington Township.

Their other loss this year came via a 3-0 shutout at the hands of St. John Vianney.

The Lancers are on a two-game win streak after taking down Pemberton and Bordentown by a combined score of 10-1.

Holy Cross scored five goals in each of those two wins.

Their largest scoring output this season was seven goals in a 7-1 romp of Riverside.

The Lancers have recorded two shutouts in 2016.

Head to Head

This has been one of the better rivalries in South Jersey over the past five-plus years.

Last season, the Pirates and Lancers played three times, including a meeting in the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association Tournament.

Cinnaminson won the first meeting 3-2. The second game ended in a 0-0 draw.

The Lancers took the third meeting, in the aforementioned tournament, 2-1 in overtime.

Holy Cross swept the season series with identical 2-0 scores in 2014.

The win in the first meeting last season snapped a six-game losing streak for the Pirates against the Lancers dating back to 2011.
