Girl’s lacrosse looks to rebound today when they hit the field versus Maple Shade. The Pirates will look for win number six of the season. This is the first of two Gameday Focus stories that hit the site today featuring lacrosse at Maple Shade and boy’s lacrosse versus Williamstown.

When: Tuesday, April 19 at 3:30pm

Where: Maple Shade High School

Cinnaminson: 5-3

Maple Shade: 0-5

Cinnaminson comes into today with an overall record of 5-3 and is looking to rebound following a tough, 19-4 loss to Rancocas Valley on Friday.

In the loss to RV Lexi Colella led the Pirates with three goals. Alexa Parrish netted the fourth for Cinnaminson. Colella and Julia Averill led the team in goals scored last week with five apiece.

The Pirates are coming off a 1-2 week, picking up a victory against Pennsauken by an 11-5 score. Cinnaminson’s other loss last week came by a 16-6 score to Northern Burlington.

Maple Shade has had a rough go of it in 2016, going winless in their first five games. The Wildcats have not scored more than four goals in a game and have been held to just one goal three times.

“I think that, as long as we go out and play our game, it won’t matter what team from Maple Shade shows up,” head coach Laura Curran said.

“I’m not sure that they have a win yet. We can’t underestimate a team like that. We started to underestimate Pennsauken the other day, but were fortunate enough to come out with a win.”

The Wildcats are coming off a season in which they won just two games, one against Gateway and one against New Egypt.

Maple Shade took on Northern Burlington last Friday and lost 18-1. The most goals they have given up this year is 19, in a 19-1 loss to Rancocas Valley to open the season.

The Wildcats have allowed double digit goals in all five games played.

Cinnaminson swept the season series with Maple Shade in 2015, winning by scores of 20-2 and 16-8. Overall, the Pirates have won 10 straight against Maple Shade dating back to the 2010 season.

“We just have to focus on us, play our game, fix our mistakes from Friday and come away from Maple Shade with a win,” Curran said.

“We need to relight the fire. Every game is a new day, new players, and yes, Friday was a tough loss, but we need to move on. We need to come off the bus against Maple Shade ready to redeem ourselves in this division with a win.”
