Update 10/9 8:35am

Cinnaminson Day has been postponed today due to the weather.

The forecast changed overnight as heavy rain and high winds (30 MPH gusts) are expected later into the morning and early afternoon.

The event has been moved to Sunday, October 16 from 11a-2p.

Please note the new time.

The CHS Project Graduation Car Show will also be held on October 16 from 8:30a-1p.

Today is the last day you can register for a table at this year’s Cinnaminson Day, scheduled for Sunday, October 9 from 12-3pm.

The rain date is set for Sunday, October 16. The event is held at Wood Park on Branch Pike.

“Of all of our events, I really enjoy coordinating Cinnaminson Day with the other people in the township that do it,” Don Brauckmann, Director of Parks and Recreation, said.

“It showcases everything about Cinnaminson. The event and all the vendors; it’s our sports organizations, our community organizations, and the businesses. It’s a really nice time to come to our community day and see what Cinnaminson has to offer.”

There were roughly 3,000 people in attendance at last year’s event, which features businesses from Cinnaminson and surrounding communities.

The same type of turnout, if not larger, is expected for this year’s event.

“We stay right around 100 vendors,” Brauckmann said. “We have our sports teams, which stay the same every year. We’ve stayed consistent around the same number. It’s been a matter of 10 tables plus or 10 tables minus.”

Along with vendors, high school and in-town sports programs will be in attendance to meet the community.

There will also be volunteer groups on hand to explain their mission to those interested in lending a helping hand.

The Cinnaminson Fire Department and Cinnaminson Police Department will have displays for children and adults to enjoy.

The Police Department will also be hosting a free shredding event during Cinnaminson Day. Bring all of your old bank statements and other sensitive material to the event and have it professionally shredded in a secure manner.

Officers will unload the boxes or bags of paper from your vehicle and put them in the shredding truck for you.

“We’ve thought about moving it to Memorial, but Wood Park has been kind of our center of town for events like this because it’s centrally located,” Brauckmann said.

“I would say the reason we haven’t done it at Memorial is because Wood is a little smaller and a little more of an intimate setting. The layout works well.”

The third annual Cinnaminson High School Project Graduation Car Show will take place in conjunction with Cinnaminson Day, on the grassy area of Wood Park towards Riverton Road.

“People in the area who own classic cars love the venue and Cinnaminson Day in general,” car show organizer George Ferris said. “This year, we are looking at between 150 and 200 cars. Last year we had 103 cars, which wasn’t bad for the second year.”

All of the proceeds from the car show, which costs $15 in advance to register, go to Project Graduation. Registration the day of the event costs $20.

“I’m also on the softball board for Cinnaminson Township. It started with that one,” Ferris said. “We are in our fifth year with that. I got involved in Project Graduation four years ago. We needed some money and car shows get people from all over. We probably will have 20 or 25 cars from the Cinnaminson area on Sunday. It’s a way to make money.”

Project Graduation provides graduating seniors with a safe place to celebrate the night with friends.

“When I got involved in Project Graduation, when my daughter was a freshman, it struck home,” Ferris said. “It has become a national event. It’s the last chance for these kids to be together as a group. It’s a fun time and the graduates get a lot of joy out of it. I thought it was a great cause.”

Awards will be given out to cars with the best engine, best interior, best paint, best of show and for club participation.

“Don was always looking for a car show,” Ferris said. “When Project Graduation came up, it was a natural fit.”
