Burlington County roads were the most fatal in the state in 2016 for a second straight year with 50 deaths, including one in Cinnaminson.

The New Jersey State Police released its final data for fatal vehicle crashes in 2016 this week and Burlington County led the state with 50.

There were 49 fatal accidents on county roads in 2016.

Five fatalities occurred on Route 130 in the county in 2016, down from nine in 2015.

All of the fatal crashes in the county except for one had just one fatality. The lone crash with two fatalities occurred in Pemberton Township on Route 70.

Cinnaminson had just one fatal crash in 2016 and it occurred in the early morning hours (4:42 am) of September 6 on Riverton Road (County Road 603).

It was a single vehicle accident with a lone occupant.

There were no fatal crashes on Route 130 in Cinnaminson in 2016 after three on the stretch of highway in 2015. Two of those fatal accidents in 2015 involved pedestrians.

Burlington County had 43 fatal accidents in 2015, accounting for a state-high 48 traffic fatalities.

In response to the reduced number of Route 130 fatalities in Cinnaminson, Director of Public Safety Michael King said the following:

“I credit the entire Department’s Traffic Enforcement towards any decline in fatal and serious MVAs. Sgt. Kevin Bohn, my Traffic Bureau Supervisor, is constantly designating areas for speed enforcement and distractive driver enforcement. He has also been very successful in obtaining Division of Highway Safety grants for enforcement of ‘click it or ticket’ and ‘drive sober or get pulled over.’ It is all of the collective efforts that leads to trying to keep our streets and highways as safe as possible.”
