It was announced today by committeeman Anthony Minniti that a Super Wawa will be built on the corner of Route 130 North and Church Road.

Minniti made the announcement via Facebook:

“Fellow residents; This week saw the demolition of the former Lukoil gas station on Church Road near Route 130. For the last few days, my email, cell phone, & Facebook account have been flooded with inquiries about what’s happening. In an attempt to put the speculation & confusion to rest, I’ve consulted with my Economic Development team (Mike Minton & Director Mickey King) & am prepared to share this update.

Cinnaminson Township is very pleased to announce our latest redevelopment success; Cinnaminson Wawa with Gas at the corner of Route 130 North & Cinnaminson Avenue. Cinnaminson Township Committee executed a redeveloper’s agreement approximately 1 year ago.

This agreement allowed Cinnaminson to assume the central role in bringing multiple property owners (Chang Karate, Wawa, Colonial Square Shopping Center & Lukoil) together to advance a single redevelopment vision for this prominent corner.

Over the next month, Wawa will be appearing before Committee to present their site plan before proceeding to Planning Board for preliminary & final approvals. The process is anticipated to be complete in the next few months. It is important to note that all sales between the developer & affected property owners were voluntary.

Also, no tax abatement or PILOT was awarded for this project. This is the latest example of Cinnaminson’s proactive approach to advancing it’s redevelopment vision & allowing a successful Cinnaminson business to continue it’s growth in our town.

Wawa with Gas at Route 130 N & Church Road will join Wawa with Gas at Route 130 S & Taylor’s Lane; both anticipated to open in 2017. Cinnaminson has spent the last year working to bring several projects from concept to reality.

As 2016 draws to a close, our redevelopment momentum is accelerating and 2017 promises to be a transformative year for our business district!”

Minniti also said that the current Wawa on Church Road will remain open until the new one is constructed.

Minniti also noted the following:

“It is important to note that the new Wawa with Gas at Church Road and Route 130 North actually combines 3 former uses as one; Exxon Gas was at the former corner of Route 130 and Branch Pike (lost to the roadway re-configuration), Lukoil, and the old Wawa “in line” at Colonial Square. Wawa has migrated away from that model and had Cinnaminson not been proactive? We risked losing a very popular business.”
