The second installment of our new feature, Alumni Profile, features former Cinnaminson High School girl’s soccer player Chelsea McDowell.
McDowell took her career to the next level and has been playing at York College of Pennsylvania for the women’s soccer team.
McDowell plays defense for York and she has started all 57 games of her three-year career. She has helped lead the Spartans to the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament three straight years and to the NCAA Tournament her sophomore season.
Major: Nursing
Cinn City Sports: What was the biggest draw for you to choose York?
McDowell: “I chose York because I was able to play soccer while pursuing my nursing career, and the campus size was perfect for me since I grew up in a small town.”
Cinn City Sports: What are your plans for after college?
McDowell: “After college I plan on becoming an RN and getting a job in Philadelphia.”
Cinn City Sports: What part of your game has improved the most since moving on to the next level?
McDowell: “The aspects that I have improved on the most would be my speed of play and the ability to be more offensive while playing the outside back position.”
Cinn City Sports: What is your favorite college class so far?
McDowell: “My favorite college class so far was my rotation with children for clinical, because when I become an RN, working on a Pediatric floor would be one if my first options.”
Cinn City Sports: What is your most memorable moment from playing soccer at Cinnaminson?
McDowell: “My most memorable moment from playing at Cinnaminson would have to be when our team won the Central Jersey Group II Championship.”
Cinn City Sports: Most memorable moment so far playing at York?
McDowell: “And, similar to my high school memory, my most memorable moment so far playing at York would have to be when we won our CAC conference championship game in 2013.”
This is just the second installment of our new feature, Alumni Profile. We hope to have at least two profiles published each week for you to enjoy as we catch up with former Cinnaminson High School athletes who are excelling in college or in their post-academic lives.
