Week 9 of the football season is here and so is our game preview as the Pirates travel to take on Pemberton with a 1pm kickoff this afternoon.

Cinnaminson is fresh off a 38-0 trouncing of Burlington City that moved their record to 6-1. Devon Taylor caught three passes, all for touchdowns, in the victory to go along with 115 receiving yards.

Frank Stepnowski scored on two long touchdown runs (58 and 66 yards), to pace the rushing attack. It was the third shutout of the season for the Pirates defense. Taylor intercepted a pass and Kevin Schoch recovered a fumble for the defensive unit.

The win was the second straight for the Pirates, who throttled Lawrence 57-28 prior to the bye week. In case you are keeping track, that’s 95 points over their last two games played. For the season, the Pirates have outscored their opponents 231-87.

Shaun Davilla is enjoying a strong first season under center, throwing for 736 yards and 10 scores, while running for 618 yards and nine touchdowns.

Taylor leads the team in touchdown receptions with seven. Stepnowski leads all receivers with 18 catches this year.

On the other side of the field, the Pemberton Hornets come into this contest with a 7-0 mark and have already clinched a share of the Liberty Division crown. Pemberton can clinch an outright division title with a victory today.

The Hornets are fresh off a 44-0 drubbing of West Deptford, their second shutout of the season. Pemberton has outscored its opponents by a total of 233-61.

Pemberton has scored 40 or more points in three straight games and four overall in 2015. The lowest point total they have been held to this year is 17, the only game in which they did not score 25 or more.

The Hornets are led by quarterback Joe Benson, who has already thrown for 1,251 yards and 20 touchdowns through seven games. Running back Robert Forchion has 786 yards on the ground and four scores.

Receiver Taro Gaither leads the Hornets with 670 yards and nine touchdown receptions. Receiver Antoine Wilson has 16 receptions, eight of which are touchdowns. He has also thrown two touchdown passes.

The win over West Deptford was the first game this season in which Benson did not throw at least two touchdown passes. He did notch a 40-yard touchdown run though.

The Pirates have won two straight games against the Hornets, but Pemberton leads the all-time series 13-5-1.
