After winning just six games in 2013, the Pirates were hoping for a stronger 2014 season.

They got just that and a little more by winning 12 (12-11) games, doubling their wins from the previous season, and advancing to the second round of the playoffs.

The Pirates took down Spotswood 5-1 in the opening round of the Central, Group 2 tournament before falling to Bordentown 3-0 in the second round.

Head Coach Tracy Bart said, “It was a nice way of seeing the season progress. We struggled early in the season and then as the season went on, we got stronger and better. It was nice to see.”

With the 2014 season in the rear-view mirror, the Pirates will look to increase their win total for a second straight season when play begins at home on Thursday, April 2 against Northern Burlington.

Heading into 2015, Coach Bart would like to see an improvement offensively and with baserunning.

“You can always improve on your hitting and baserunning. Those are a couple of things we are focusing on this year because we had those weaknesses throughout some games last year.”

Coach Bart is looking at the Pirates pitching as being strong this year due in large part to senior starter Shannon Profy.

“Shannon is a four-year, varsity starting pitcher for us and each year she has progressed and gotten better. So, with this being her senior year, I think she is going to be a strong player for us this year.”

Rancocas Valley, Moorestown and season-opening opponent Northern Burlington will be the toughest out-of-division opponents for Cinnaminson this season, according to Coach Bart.

The division has been slightly re-aligned for 2015, with the addition of Florence and the move of Burlington Township.

“It makes our division very competitive and the better teams we play during the season, the better prepared we will be for playoff season.”

This year’s varsity team will be freshmen and sophomore heavy.

“This year I have two freshmen up and four sophomores to go along with three juniors and two seniors. We look to the upperclassmen for that leadership role to help prepare the kids for the transition from a JV to a varsity game because of the speed of the game and the advanced pitching they will see.”
