The Pirates Daily Preview for Thursday, January 21 features four teams in action as both basketball programs take on rival Holy Cross.

Bowling: Home vs Ewing at 3:45pm at Laurel Lanes.

Match Preview Capsule: The Pirates bowling team gets back to work following a split with Bordentown on Tuesday. The boys moved their record to 9-2-2 with a 4-0 win over the Scotties, while the girl’s record fell to 8-4-3 after a 4-0 loss. Tim Profy picked up the high game and series for the boys and Lauren Gallo did the same for the girls.

Ewing boy’s bowling comes into today with a 10-3 record, having recently defeated Burlington Township 3-1 last week and have won seven in a row. Ewing girl’s bowling enters this match with a record of 12-0. Their most recent match was a 4-0 win over Delran last week.

Winter Track: At the SJTCA Meet in Toms River at the Bennett Center at 5pm.

Meet Preview Capsule: The Pirates return to the Bennett Center for the second time this week after competing at the second SJTCA Novice Meet on Tuesday. You can find the results of that meet right here.

Girl’s Basketball: Home vs Holy Cross at 6:15pm.

Game Preview Capsule: The Pirates return to the court after a week hiatus to take on Freedom Division rival Holy Cross. Cinnaminson comes in with a 7-2 overall record and 3-0 mark in the division. The last time they took the court the Pirates used a late bucket to down Bordentown in a Freedom contest. This is the first of two meetings between the Pirates and Lancers this season.

Holy Cross comes into this game with an overall record of 9-2 and 2-0 mark in the Freedom. The Lancers suffered their second loss of the season to Mainland on Saturday, 44-31, which snapped a six-game win streak. The 31 points scored was the lowest point output of the season for the Lancers.

These two teams faced off three times last year, with the Lancers winning two games. The win for the Pirates came at home.

Boy’s Basketball: At Holy Cross at 6:30pm.

Game Preview Capsule: The boy’s basketball team will travel to take on Holy Cross tonight in a Freedom Division game. The Pirates come in tonight with an 8-2 overall mark and a 2-1 record in the division. A 71-63 win on Tuesday over Maple Shade snapped a brief, two-game skid for the Pirates.

The Lancers are 3-9 overall and 0-3 in the Freedom. Holy Cross also played on Tuesday, dropping a 68-63 game against Highland for their fourth straight loss. The 63 points scored matched their highest output so far this year.

These two teams split their two meetings last season with the road team picking up the wins. The Pirates won in dramatic fashion in the second meeting, at Holy Cross, 57-54. Mark Staudenmayer hit a three at the buzzer to secure the victory.
