The 2016 fall sports season began at Cinnaminson High School this past week. See who takes home the first Athletes of the Week honors for the teams that were in action.

Boy’s Soccer: Chris Updike takes home the first honor of the season. Updike connected on a pass from Ryan Mahaffy that gave the Pirates their first goal of the year in a 1-1 draw with Ocean City Friday afternoon.

Field Hockey: The field hockey team fell to Delran 1-0 on Thursday to open the new season. It was a defensive battle from start to finish. Keeper Lauren Friedrich takes home the honor this week after making eight saves for the Pirates.

Football: The Pirates football team traveled to Willingboro on Friday night and came away with a 27-0 win in a Liberty Division contest. The first athlete of the week for football goes to sophomore running back Rashad Raymond. Raymond scored the first and final touchdowns of the night for the Pirates on runs of 35 and 18 yards.

Girl’s Cross Country: Cinnaminson ran at the Cherokee Challenge in Marlton on Saturday to open the 2016 season. The honor this week goes to sophomore Ashley Rafferty. Rafferty finished with the best time of the day for the Pirates in the 3200m race. She finished in 14:49.

Girl’s Soccer: The girl’s soccer team enjoyed a 1-0-1 weekend at a tournament hosted by Williamstown. The Pirates played to a 0-0 draw with Williamstown Friday and took down Kingsway 2-0 on Saturday. The honor this week goes to sophomore keeper Maddie Ogden. Ogden posted back-to-back shutouts in her first varsity starts.

Girl’s Volleyball: Girl’s volleyball fell to Moorestown 2-0 on Thursday to open the season and took part in a round robin tournament (doesn’t count towards regular season record) at Moorestown on Saturday. The honor this week goes to Rebecca Martino. Martino recorded six aces, two kills and one block in the loss to Moorestown on Thursday.
