The Pirates Athletes of the Week for the week ending May 1 has arrived. See who takes home the honors this week for each varsity squad. It was a rain-shortened week for some teams at Cinnaminson High School, but every program was able to get in at least one game/match this week.

Baseball: The honor this week goes to Jim Sullivan. Sullivan picked up his first varsity win with six innings of three-run ball against Pemberton in the BCSL Tournament. He allowed six hits and struck out three. Sullivan also helped himself with an RBI hit in the victory that tied the game at 1-1 early.

Boy’s Lacrosse: The honor this week for boy’s lacrosse goes to Ryan Devone. Devone scored four goals in the Pirates 17-5 romp of Winslow Township and added a fifth on the week in the team’s 14-2 loss to New Egypt on Wednesday. The Pirates went 1-2 during the week and are now 2-10 on the season.

Boy’s Tennis: In a week that saw the Pirates play just one match, a 4-1 victory over Palmyra, the honor goes to third singles Tyler Collins. Collins advanced to the finals of the BCSC on Saturday at Veterans Park. He will compete in the finals on Monday at Moorestown High School as the three-seed.

Boy’s Track and Field: The Pirates had one meet this week and it was a win in Patriot play against Delran. The 4×400 team competed at the Penn Relays, finishing sixth in the South Jersey Small Schools Race. The team of Steve Liu, Tom Long, Curtis Hickson and Samir Corbett-Parker take home the Athlete of the Week honors this week.

Boy’s Volleyball: The boy’s volleyball team went 3-2 this week to move their record to 13-7 overall. The honor this week goes to Jared Yeager. In a 2-1 win over rival Collingswood Yeager picked up one ace, six service points and 16 assists to lead the Pirates to victory.

Girl’s Lacrosse: The Pirates went 1-1 this week with a 12-6 win over New Egypt and a 13-11 loss to Delran on Friday night. Julia Averill led all scorers this week with six goals, four in the win over New Egypt and two in the loss to the Bears. Averill is the girl’s lacrosse athlete of the week for May 1.

Girl’s Track and Field: The Pirates had just one meet this week, against Delran, and it was suspended with a handful of events yet to be completed due to lightning. The 4×100 and 4×400 teams competed at the Penn Relays on this weekend. Both teams take the honor this week. The 4×100 team consists of Alex Keck, Miranda Sackner, Vanessa Finnan and Maleiah Myers. The 4×400 team consists of Christina Harrell, Andrea Benites, Olivia Rocks and Haley Adams.

Golf: The golf team moved to 9-0 this week with three wins that came against Burlington Township, Delran and Bordentown. The team qualified for sectionals with the win over Delran. In the win over Burlington Township, the Pirates needed to go to a fifth score to determine a winner after the teams were tied at 168 with four scores. The fifth score, a 44 from Nick Anninos, gave the Pirates the win. He is our athlete of the week for golf for May 1.

Softball: In a 2-0 week for the Pirates, the honor goes to Brooke Figiel. The senior centerfielder recorded her 100th career hit in a 4-3 win over Bordentown in the second round of the BCSL Tournament on Monday. Figiel went 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored in the win.
