The Pirates Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 10 has arrived. See which athletes take home the honors for the second week of spring.

Baseball: During a 1-1 week in which the Pirates lost 14-5 to Northern Burlington to open the season and won 10-0 against Bordentown at home, the Athlete of the Week for baseball goes to Brandon Staub. Staub picked up a complete game win in his first outing of the year against Bordentown. He allowed just two hits and picked up an RBI double along the way.

Boy’s Lacrosse: It has been a rough start to the season for boy’s lacrosse as the Pirates are now 0-5 overall after going 0-3 this week. The honor for boy’s lacrosse goes to Tyler Simcoe. Simcoe scored three of the Pirates four goals in a 12-4 loss to New Egypt on Wednesday.

Boy’s Tennis: Boy’s tennis went 1-2 to open the season this week, having missed a match due to the weather. The lone win came against Florence, which is the fourth win against the Flashes in as many opportunities dating back to last season. The second doubles win against the Flashes, featuring George Rider and James Merget, was the first varsity win for the combo. They take home the honor this week.

Boy’s Volleyball: The honor this week goes to team captain Pat McCarthy. McCarthy led the Pirates with 50 kills and 45 digs during the week as the Pirates evened their record to 4-4. All four wins came this week, three at the Moorestown Crossover on Saturday.

Girl’s Lacrosse: The girl’s lacrosse team has won four in a row overall and went 3-0 this week to move to 4-1 on the year. The honor this week goes to two players; Julia Averill and Lexi Colella. The offense exploded this week as Averill led the Pirates in scoring with 11 goals and Colella was second on the team with 10.

Golf: The golf team opened the 2016 campaign with a 163-218 win over visiting New Egypt at the Riverton Country Club on Tuesday afternoon. Josh Elder led all golfers with a 38 on the day. He takes home the first honor of the season for the golf team.

Softball: In a week that saw the Pirates go 0-3 to fall to 1-5 with losses against Riverside 15-14 and Bordentown 10-0, the honor goes to senior center fielder Brooke Figiel. Figiel went 5-for-10 (.500) with five RBIs in the three games and threw a runner out at home from center field in the loss to Bordentown.
