The PARCC scores for the Cinnaminson School District have been released.
The scores released today are from the second year the state issued the PARCC test, which is computerized and much more difficult than previous state tests.
“We were pretty pleased because our schools went up in five of six areas,” Cinnaminson High School principal Darlene Llewellyn said. “They went up in three math and two of the three ELA.”
“Compared to the county, we did really well in ELA. We were first in one area, two in another and third or fourth in another. In our DFG we were highest in ELA, which is always nice based on the schools we are compared with up North.”
Llewellyn commented that there was less pushback for the tests in the second year than in the first.
“There was less pushback this school year than last. There were less refusals, probably half the amount than the year before. I think the kids took them a lot more seriously this year because they realize they are not going away and they are affecting our graduation rate. Definitely a better result.”
PARCC is short for Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers.
The test has been highly criticized by the largest teachers union in the state as well as parents.
Scores from grades 3-11 can be seen below for language arts and mathematics.
The key is as follows:
Level 1: Not Yet Meeting Requirements
Level 2: Partially Meeting
