Nominate a family in need this holiday season with the Hunter’s Heroes Foundation, which recently held a Beef and Beer to honor Lt. Christopher Hunter.

“I was amazed,” Claire Hunter said. “It brought tears to my eyes when I saw all the people there. We wanted to make it fun. We wanted to make it where people would come back. We are so excited for next year.”

The beef and beer was held at Sacred Heart in Riverton last weekend and was a celebration of Lt. Hunter.

“It couldn’t have gone more perfect,” Claire said. “Celebrating him and that everyone knew the reason we were really there was because of him was so important.”

It featured live entertainment, food, beverages and a silent auction.

“The silent auction was great,” Claire said. “We had so many donations that came in from friends, family and businesses that we were able to give eight prizes away at the end of the night. So, on top of the silent auction, some people went home with multiple prizes.”

Lt. Hunter always liked to learn from his mistakes while on the job, which is what the foundation will do when planning next year’s event.

“We’ve already spoken to Sacred Heart about next year,” Claire said. “We kind of did this a little fast. Next year we will have more time to do things. Chris always learned from his mistakes when he had calls. We already know of some things we want to do differently.”

Between ticket sales (close to 150 people) and the silent auction, the Hunter’s Heroes Foundation will use the proceeds to help local families in need this holiday season.

“Lt. Hunter loved Christmas and helping people,” Firefighter/EMT and foundation board member Jim Clancy said. “This is a great way to honor both of these.”

All nominations will be kept discreet and confidential. The foundation can assist with meals, trees and presents within reason.

“This year we want to help local families during the holidays,” Claire said. “We just want to be able to help someone in need.”

Towards the end of the night the attendees of the beef and beer released balloons into the night sky in honor of Lt. Hunter’s birthday.

“It was just a fun night,” Claire said. “I was in complete shock. We are so thankful for everything that was donated for the silent auction and all that Whistler’s, Park Tavern and Valenzano’s donated.”

“The response was overwhelming. We had people asking two hours before the event if tickets were still available. It was so amazing.”

All nominations for the Hunter’s Holiday Heroes must be submitted by Wednesday, November 23 in order to give the foundation enough time to put together everything needed.

Nominations can be submitted via email to the foundation at huntersheroesfoundation@comcast.net.
