Round two of the South, Group 2 tournament will be played today at Noon at Cinnaminson High School when the girl’s soccer team hosts the Middle Township Panthers.

#3 Cinnaminson: 11-5-2

#6 Middle Township: 15-2-1

Cinnaminson got here by shutting down Pemberton on Monday, 7-0, their second straight shutout against the Hornets. Miranda Sackner (18 goals) recorder her third hat trick of the season in the victory. The other four goals were scored by Casey Joyce, Kelly Kane and Hailey Gutowski (2). Kane’s goal was her first for varsity.

The Pirates dominated all facets of the contest from end to end. Cinnaminson wasted no time getting on the board, as Gutowski deposited a shot before two minutes could roll off the clock in the first half. From that point on, the Hornets were on their heels and Cinnaminson took advantage en route to the 7-0 victory.

Following the 7-0 victory, which was the second straight game in which the Pirates scored seven goals, girl’s soccer has now outscored its opponents 54-21 in 2015.

The Pirates are in the midst of a four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1) that includes two shutouts, a 1-1 tie with Rancocas Valley and just two goals against.

Middle Township comes into this second round contest after taking down #11 Barnegat 1-0 in the opening round. The Panthers have not lost since October 16, a 4-1 setback to Mainland.

It took the Panthers 50 minutes to score their lone goal against Barnegat as they dealt with multiple turnovers.

Their 1-0 win on Monday was their fifth straight and four of those wins were shutouts. All told, the Panthers have recorded 14 shutouts this season and have outscored their opponents 52-8.

Junior keeper Krista Salvadore, who made five saves in the first round, has recorded all 14 of the Panthers shutouts this year. Bridget Ruskey leads the team in goals with 15. She scored the lone goal versus Barnegat. Ruskey also leads the team in assists with 14. The Panthers second-leading scorer is Summer Sides, who has 10.
