Haddonfield semifinal

The girl’s basketball team will host Haddonfield on Saturday at 4pm in the South, Group 2 semifinal. Here is our game preview.

#1 Cinnaminson: 22-6

#5 Haddonfield: 24-4

When: Saturday, March 5 at 4pm.

Where: Cinnaminson

How They Got Here

The #1 Pirates have enjoyed playing at home, winning handily in the opener versus Buena 60-16 and using a fourth quarter run against Lower Cape May to advance to the South, Group 2 semifinals.

Cinnaminson used a 60-point explosion to get the jitters out in the opening round against #16 Buena to begin their quest for a sectional title.

Then, on Thursday, the Pirates used a 19-8 fourth quarter to take down SJ2 defending champion Lower Cape May to move to the semifinals on Saturday.

The win over Lower Cape May, the 22nd of the season for Cinnaminson, ties a school record for most wins in a season by the program in what has been a season of milestones.

Senior Marisa DiLeo has led the Pirates in scoring through the first two games with 17 and 19. The Pirates had three players score in double figures in the playoff opener, but just one in the quarterfinal game.

Ten players picked up at least one point in the Buena win, while seven did so against Lower Cape May.

Cinnaminson has been able to spread the ball around all season and it has continued in the playoffs. The only downside from Thursday’s win over Lower Cape May is that the Pirates shot 0-of-15 from three-point range, a rarity for the Pirates this year

#5 Haddonfield comes into this game riding high following an incredible come from behind win over #4 Manchester Township on the road Thursday night.

Haddonfield trailed Manchester 29-19 at halftime and 33-25 after three. A furious fourth quarter rally that saw Haddonfield outscore Manchester 15-7 sent the game to overtime tied at 40.

Haddonfield won the game with a 7-3 OT run to advance to Saturday’s semifinal at Cinnaminson.

The Bulldawgs won their opener, against #12 Gateway, 61-22 in order to advance to face Manchester.

In the win over Manchester the Bulldawgs had three players score in double figures, with Meghan Smart leading the way with 16. C.C. Mooney and Taylor Sehdev each had 11.

In the win against Gateway the Bulldawgs had two players in double digits, Sehdev 23 and Mooney 12, as nine players scored at least two points in the game.

Last year the Bulldawgs list to Deptford in the quarterfinal round of the South, Group 2 Tournament by a score of 40-39.
