It’s Tax Day! We know, it’s not that exciting. How about you relieve some stress by watching the Pirates softball team take on Maple Shade at home? First pitch is slated for 3:30pm. Here is our Gameday Focus for softball vs Maple Shade.

When: Monday, April 18 at 3:30pm

Where: Cinnaminson

Cinnaminson: 3-7

Maple Shade: 3-3

Cinnaminson comes into today with a 3-7 record and is fresh off a 7-1 win over Westampton on Friday. The Pirates played .500 ball last week (2-2) with a second win against Pemberton (10-2 in extra innings) and losses against Burlington Township (7-5) and Rancocas Valley (21-1).

In the win versus Westampton the Pirates received a stellar effort on the mound from Rebecca Proctor. Proctor threw a complete game, allowing just one earned run on three hits.

Olivia Pestridge and SaraBeth Coyle combined for four RBIs (two apiece). Brenna MacNair and Brooke Figiel also drove in one run apiece.

“The offense started to click towards the end of the game and we were able to capitalize on errors they made,” head coach Tracy Bart said of the win over Westampton. “It was good baserunning. When they made mistakes we were able to take extra bases, which led to runs for us.”

Cinnaminson is looking for its third win in four games when softball takes the field vs Maple Shade this afternoon.

Maple Shade comes into today with a 3-3 record and has won two in a row over Willingboro (17-1) and Burlington City (18-7). Their third win was a 16-0 romp over Trenton Catholic.

The Wildcats have scored in double digits in all three of their wins and failed to score in double digits in all three of their losses (Holy Cross 16-6, Haddon Township 9-5 and Delran 4-2).

Maple Shade is outscoring opponents 64-37 through its first six games of the season.

In last year’s meeting, the Pirates picked up a 1-0 win over Maple Shade in extra innings. Delani Pecchioli (’15) picked up the game winning hit and Shannon Profy (’15) threw all eight innings for the win. She struck out five and allowed five hits.

The Pirates won the 2014 meeting 5-2 and lost the 2013 meeting 8-6.

“It’s always a good game between us and Maple Shade,” Bart said. “A lot of our girls know their players because they are friends or play together on summer teams.”
