boy's lacrosse vs Moorestown Friends

Game coverage today features boy’s lacrosse at Moorestown Friends, which makes this contest the subject of our Gameday Focus. Let’s take an in-depth look at this game as the Pirates travel to take on the Foxes.

When: Wednesday, May 11 at 3:45pm.

Where: Moorestown Friends School.

Cinnaminson: 3-12

Moorestown Friends: 1-9

The Pirates enter today with a mark of 3-12 after taking taking down Hamilton West 16-1 on Monday. The win snapped a four-game losing streak.

Cinnaminson’s first win came on senior night against Williamstown by a score of 4-3. Their second win came on the road at Winslow Township by a score of 17-5.

The Pirates offense has been much better of late, scoring in double digits in both wins and scored 13 goals during their four-game losing streak.

The Pirates will need the offense to continue to improve today with the road game at Moorestown Friends. Cinnaminson has an opportunity to tie the program record for wins in a season with four (set in 2013).

Cinnaminson dropped the only meeting between these two teams in 2015 by a 7-6 score in overtime. The Pirates led that game 3-1 at halftime.

Ryan Bleistine tied the contest at 6-6 with just 15 seconds left in regulation after Moorestown Friends took a 6-5 lead with one minute remaining.

The Foxes won the game with 2:27 left in the overtime period.

Moorestown Friends comes into today’s contest with a 1-9 record. The Foxes have lost seven in a row and have not played since a 10-1 loss to Rancocas Valley on May 4 due to a rainout on May 6 against Middle Township.

Their lone win of the year came by a 14-6 score over Haddon Township in their third game. That was the only game in which the Foxes scored double digits in goals.

The most they’ve scored since then is eight goals in a 17-8 loss to Delran in the game that started their losing streak.

Moorestown Friends has allowed double digits in goals in eight of their nine losses. The most goals they’ve allowed in a game this year was 20 in a 20-5 loss to Academy New Church (PA).

A win today would also keep the Pirates playoff hopes alive. Cinnaminson last made the playoffs in 2013, dropping their first round game to Bernards 18-0 in the South, Group 1 Tournament.

The Pirates won their final game of the regular season, 9-3 over Winslow Township, to get into the playoffs that year.
