The boy’s basketball team opens the 2016-2017 season tonight by welcoming Bordentown to the new gymnasium at 5:30pm. Here is our preview.

When: Friday, December 16 at 5:30pm.

Where: Cinnaminson High School.

Pirates Have Youth Infusion

Cinnaminson graduated more than a handful of seniors last season, which means this year’s squad will be young.

The starting lineup will feature senior Conor Bresnahan, three sophomores and a junior.

The first two guys off the bench are juniors and the third is a sophomore.

Cinnaminson finished last season 19-8 and advanced to the quarterfinals of the South, Group 2 bracket.

The Pirates also went 6-2 in the Freedom last year, good for second place, but move to the Patriot for the 2016-2017 campaign.

Scotties Out to Defend Section Title

Bordentown won the Central, Group 2 sectional crown last season with a 26-5 record.

The Scotties fell in the Group 2 state semifinal to Camden 77-63.

Bordentown will be out to defend their Central, Group 2 crown this season.

It was the first sectional title for the Scotties since 2006.

Bordentown also took home the Freedom Division crown last year.

Head to Head

These two teams met twice last year during the regular season as Freedom opponents.

The Scotties won the first meeting 69-52.

The Pirates returned the favor with a 66-57 win at home late in the season.

At the time, the loss was just the second of the season for Bordentown.

Both of these teams moved to the Patriot this year, which makes this opening game even more interesting.
