The Cinnaminson Fire Department will “Paint the Town Pink” the month of October for breast cancer awareness.

The department conducts fundraising annually for breast cancer awareness, but is taking its efforts to a new level this year.

For the first time, the department will take part in a dine and donate at Sweetwater Bar & Grille on October 13 from 12-8pm.

A silent auction will also take place during the dine and donate. A portion of the proceeds raised during the event will be donated to the department’s efforts.

The department would appreciate any and all help local businesses can provide this year. Items that can be donated for the silent auction include gift certificates, merchandise or services.

Cinnaminson Fire District Business Manager Jean Dietrick is an 8-year survivor of breast cancer.

The annual fundraising efforts by the department are near and dear to her heart.

Members of the department approached Dietrick about raising funds for the Virtua Breast Care Comfort Fund in her name.

“While working for the Fire District I was diagnosed with breast cancer, fought the battle and am now a survivor of eight years,” Dietrick said in a press release.

“For the past five years, the Cinnaminson Fire Department has raised funds for the Virtua Breast Care Comfort Fund in my name.”

Half of the money raised in 2016 will be donated to Virtua and the other half will be donated to the Rebecca A. Scott Memorial Education Fund.

Scott worked as a Virtua paramedic before she succumbed to breast cancer in October of 2015 after a long battle.

The department will be selling pink bows to display on homes and businesses as well as ribbon lapel pins, both for a $5 donation.

These items will be made available beginning with the last week of September through the entire month of October.

Members of the department will purchase pink duty shirts to wear while working and pink fire resistant hoods to wear while fighting fire in an effort to support the two charities.

Any questions about these fundraising efforts or to make a donation, please contact Cinnaminson Fire District Business Manager Jean Dietrick at jdietrick@cinnaminsonfire.org or 856-829-5220 during normal business hours.

More information, as well as brochures on each charity and a donation form can be found here.
