The Cinnaminson Police Department is taking a zero tolerance stance regarding creepy clowns in the township, according to a department press release issued Thursday.
Director of Public Safety Michael King has been in contact with Cinnaminson Superintendent Dr. Salvatore Illuzzi regarding the creepy clown sightings across New Jersey.
According to the release, there was an incident in Cinnaminson on Wednesday night at the Middle School.
Police were dispatched for a report of someone wearing a clown mask running around the middle school soccer fields.
The person in question was a 14-year-old student who terrorized a school bus full of children upon its arrival at the middle school.
Officers detained the student until the parents arrived. Juvenile complaints will be filed and forwarded to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.
The police department will provide increased security at all of the district’s schools, according to the release.
“The Cinnaminson School District will continue to use their universal safety precautions, including that of prohibiting unauthorized visitors, and immediately will contact law enforcement when warranted.
Rest assured the Cinnaminson Police and the School District take the safety of your children very seriously,” the release stated.
