The Cinnaminson PD will host a Cookout with Cops event this Sunday, September 25 from 12-4pm at headquarters on Manor Road.
This is the second year for the event.
All are welcome to attend and enjoy games, food and conversation with the officers of the Cinnaminson Police Department.
The event, along with all other community events involving the police department, is being run by Officer Michael Czarzasty.
“Other towns do coffee with a cop or pizza with a cop. We went a little bigger than that. We have it at our station and it makes people feel more comfortable coming to the police station.”
“We want the community to come and talk to us without them feeling like they are interrupting something or bothering us. They can come get something to eat. We will have food, water and face painting. We have a whole bunch of stuff.”
The officers will be cooking the food available to the public, including cheeseburgers, hot dogs and Case’s pork roll.
There will also be a dunk tank on hand that will be staffed by Cinnaminson police officers.
“The whole idea of this is to get to know the cops,” Officer Czarzasty said. “I know National Night Out is for that as well, but ours was a little too grand scale to actually have that happen this year.”
“The cookout is actually for people to come talk to us. We will be playing the games with them. We don’t have volunteers doing anything. It’s going to be all cops working it.”
Do you enjoy collecting baseball cards? If so, while in attendance you can collect the trading cards of the police officers.
If you collect all the police trading cards, you win a prize.
“If the cops are there, not working or working the midnight shift, they will be carrying their baseball card with them,” Officer Czarzasty said. “The kids actually have to go up to the police officers and talk to them to collect a card.”
Parking for the event will be available on Manor Road, in the municipal building parking lot and in the parking lot for the library.
“We had roughly 300 or 400 people,” Czarzasty said. “We are expecting anywhere from 400 to 600 people this year.”
The department will also have a display setup at Cinnaminson Day on October 9 at Wood Park as well as a shredding event.
“We are hosting a free shredding event on Cinnaminson Day,” Czarzasty said. “We will load it from your car to the shredder.”
