Cinnaminson boy’s soccer faced off against Liberty rival Moorestown this afternoon in a heated battle. The Pirates took a 3-1 loss, failing to stay unbeaten.

Cinnaminson came into this game 1-0-1 after taking down Pennsauken 3-0 Tuesday night at home.

The game started off even, things went back and forth until Moorestown ripped a goal past keeper Mike Deal to make it 1-0.

“I feel like we’re a strong team, we just didn’t perform the way we usually do today.” Deal said. “We have potential and talented players, we just need to bounce back and perform our best.”

The first half scoring wasn’t over as Moorestown was awarded a penalty kick. After scoring off a rebound shot, Moorestown made it 2-0.

When the second half came, the intensity picked up and play got physical. You could tell it was do or die for Cinnaminson.

Moorestown came up with the first goal of the second half, a rip in the top right corner making the score 3-0.

Chris Updike scored for Cinnaminson in the last minute, his third of the season.

“We didn’t play as well as we could have” said Updike. “The connections between some players weren’t there and we didn’t play like we truly wanted it. It pleases me to extend my scoring streak to three games, but a win would’ve made it better.”

Cinnaminson went on to lose 3-1, making their record 1-1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Liberty Division.

The win for Moorestown today was their first in four years at Cinnaminson.

The Pirates travel to another Liberty opponent, Rancocas Valley, on Tuesday, September 20 at 3:45pm.
