The Alumni Profile for Friday, May 8 features Immaculata men’s lacrosse player Tom Christian, who is also an ordained minister. Here is the conversation we had about CHS, Immaculata and lacrosse:

Cinn City Sports: What was the biggest draw that helped you choose Immaculata?

Christian: My biggest draw for immaculata probably was two of my best friends attending the school (Jake Kemble and Brooke Robinson) and also when I first visited the campus.

CCS: Favorite class so far in college?

Christian: My favorite class in college so far was probably Kinesiology, it’s interesting to see the way the body moves and what moves it.

CCS: What do you hope to do with your major in Exercise Science and Sports Management upon graduating?

Christian: I hope to eventually get a job coaching football and possibly lacrosse and also a sports management position somewhere.

CCS: Who first got you interested in lacrosse?

Christian: My friend Jake, who I play with now in college, was the one who convinced me to join the team my junior year.

CCS: Prior to your two years playing lacrosse at CHS, had you ever played before that?

Christian: I played one year in eighth grade as a goalie. That’s how I decided I’d never play goalie again.

CCS: When did you become an ordained minister?

Christian: I became a minister at the end of March.

CCS: Have you performed any ceremonies yet?

Christian: I have not, but I have been told by my friends that they want me to do their ceremonies.

CCS: What aspect of lacrosse interests you the most?

Christian: I think the physical aspect of the game interests me the most. You have to love a sport where you can hit people.

CCS: What was your favorite class at CHS?

Christian: It has to be a tie between human behavior with Mr. Campbell or History with Mr.McGhee.

CCS: You also played football and basketball at CHS. Of the three sports you played, which one did you enjoy the most? Which one was your most challenging?

Christian: My favorite sport was definitely football just because of my love of the game and the great coaches and teammates I had for the 4 years I played. But, my most challenging had to be lacrosse, because I had to learn a whole new position and the stick skills with that position.

CCS: Most memorable moment from athletic career at CHS?

Christian: My favorite athletic moment was winning the division title in football both my junior and senior year, and also winning the first varsity lacrosse game in program history.

CCS: What does it mean to you knowing that you were part of the original varsity lacrosse team at CHS?

Christian: It means a great deal. Because I know that Coach Angelini has that program heading in the right direction. And when they are one of the top teams in New Jersey, I can say that I was one of the original members of that team.
