Top 5 Girl's Lacrosse Games of 2016

We continue our Top 5 series for the 2016 spring sports season at Cinnaminson High School with a look at the Top 5 Girl’s Lacrosse Games of 2016.

As with prior Top 5 lists, the game did not have to result in a win for it to appear on the countdown.

Without further adieu, let’s take a look at the Top 5 games of the 2016 season for girl’s lacrosse.

#5: Pirates Defeat West Windsor-Plainsboro South for First Win of Season

Cinnaminson picked up its first win of the 2016 campaign in game number two over West Windsor-Plainsboro South, 14-4. It was the Pirates first win of four in a row and came after a 16-3 loss to Holy Cross to open the season. The win helped the offense get on track and allowed the defense, which was almost all first-time varsity players, gel.

#4 Pirates Down Maple Shade 21-5 to End Regular Season

Cinnaminson picked up a much-needed victory over Maple Shade in the final regular season game, 21-5. Senior Julia Averill entered the game in need of 11 goals for 100 in her career. She tallied 11 in the victory. Averill would net one more goal in the Pirates first round playoff game to finish with 101 on her career.

#3 Pirates Suffer Senior Night Loss to Rival Delran

Despite this game being a loss, it was still one of the best girl’s lacrosse games of the season. It was an exciting, back-and-forth affair from the opening whistle. Cinnaminson fell 13-11 as the Pirates led 11-10 with just over six minutes remaining in the second half before Delran exploded for three in a row to win.

#2 Pirates Defeat Moorestown Friends 12-9

In their third game of the season, the Pirates took down Moorestown Friends 12-9 in what wound up being the second of four straight wins early in the season. This win was an important one because the Pirates dropped a tough 15-14 contest in 2015 to Moorestown Friends.

#1 Pirates Defeat Delran 12-10

The Pirates fourth straight win early in the season came against rival Delran by a 12-10 score. The Pirates employed a balanced offensive attack as six different girls registered at least one goal. Lexi Colella led the way with five and Averill followed suit with three in the win.

Tomorrow we bring you the Top 5 Boy’s Lacrosse Games of 2016.
