Top 5 Boy’s Track and Field Meets of 2016

We only have a few more programs to cover as the Top 5 series for the spring sports season winds down in the coming days.

Today we bring you the Top 5 Boy’s Track and Field Meets of 2016. Let us know which meet you think should be number one on the list in our comments section.

#5 Pirates Competed at the Hall of Fame Relays

The 2016 track and field season at Cinnaminson kicked off on April 2 with the Hall of Fame Relays at Maple Shade High School. The Pirates won two events (shot put and distance medley), while placing second in two events. The Pirates finished in the top five in nine events.

#4 Pirates Competed at the BCSL Meet

For yet another year the boy’s track and field program won the Patriot Division title at the BCSL Meet on May 14. The boys won the meet against their Patriot foes by 76 points. Cinnaminson scored 176 points. Pemberton finished second with 100.

#3 Pirates Competed at the South, Group 2 Sectional Meet

On May 27 and 28, the Pirates competed at the South, Group 2 Sectional Meet. The Pirates qualified for eight different events at the sectional meet for the State, Group 2 meet that weekend. Christian Neumann won a sectional title in the pole vault and Kamron Kobolak was the sectional runner-up in the shot put.

#2 Pirates Competed at the Group 2 State Meet

On June 3 and 4, the Pirates competed at the Group 2 State Meet. Cinnaminson took part in eight events, with junior Mike Ungvarsky winning the state title in the 3200. He became the first male athlete to do so in the 3200 since Jon Anderson in 2004.

#1 Pirates Competed at the Meet of Champions

On June 8, the Pirates competed in three events at the Meet of Champions. Ungvarsky finished 8th to earn a medal in the 3200. The 4×800 relay team finished 32nd out of 37 teams and Christian Neumann did not clear the opening height in the pole vault.

He coached baseball for five years, three at his former high school (Holy Cross in Delran, NJ) and two at prominent Division III program Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and minor in Journalism from Rowan University in 2008. While in school he was the Assistant Sports Director at WGLS for two years and the Sports Director for one year. He also covered the football, baseball, softball and both basketball teams for the school newspaper 'The Whit.' He is the former Sports Editor for the Cinnaminson and Moorestown Patch websites.
